Directions to Eastbury Cottage and Hermanus
For directions to Eastbury Cottage please read the instructions below. There are directions to Hermanus from the Cape Town Airport along the N2, from the Garden Route along the R326, Caledon R320 and the Whale Coast Route R44.

- Directions to Eastbury Cottage and Hermanus from Cape Town Airport via the N2: Take the Somerset West off ramp onto the N2. Proceed through Somerset West/Strand, taking care to stick to the 70km per hour speed limit as you pass through the built up area. Ascend the Sir Lowry’s Pass and enjoy the spectacular view of False Bay. Continue over the mountain with the Steenbras Dam on your right. You will now be driving towards and skirting the town of Grabouw and entering the beautiful Elgin farming area with its vineyards and fruit orchards. You will ascend the Houwhoek Pass and then descend via sharp curves in the road. As you descen the Pass You will see the rolling cultivated hills of the Overberg stretching out below and the town of Bot Rivier. Notice the sign directing you to turn left onto the R43. Continue towards Hermanus on the R43. Travel time +- 60minutes

- Directions to Eastbury Cottage and Hermanus from the N2 via the Whale Coast Route (R44). After Somerset West turn right at the traffic lights with the R44 sign post for Gordon’s Bay and Kleinmond. Follow this most scenic route and travel with the ocean on your right and the rugged mountains on your left. You will pass the villages of Rooiels, Pringle Bay, Betty’s Bay and then Kleinmond after wich you will reach a T-junction meeting up with the R43. Turn right and proceed, skirting Fisherhaven, Hawston, Vermont, Onrus and Sandbaai. Enter Hermanus. Travel time +-75 minutes
Directions to Eastbury Cottage: Proceed down the Main Road of Hermanus and pass through the first traffic circle and continue through the village CBD, turning sharp left at the traffic lights along the Main Road. Continue until you reach the traffic circle after the Marine Hotel and drive through this circle. Proceed and take the next street, Stemmet St to the left. Cross over Mitchell St and turn right into Luyt Street. Proceed to no 36 on right.
- Directons to Eastbury Cottage and Hermanus from the Garden Route via N2: Travelling in a westerly direction drive through Riviersonderend via N2 and continue for +-8kms and then take R326 via Rietpoel to Stanford (+-25kms). At Stanford turn right onto the R43 and drive to Hermanus (+-20kms) Travel time: +- 60 minutes
Directions to Eastbury Cottage: Proceed down the Main Road through the suburb of Voelklip, continue through the Voelklip circle and proceed for a few kms then turn right into Fairways Avenue at the Eastcliff Garage / Spar Shopping Complex. Take the second road to the left into Luyt Street and proceed over the stop street to no 36 on left.
- Directions to Eastbury Cottage and Hermanus from Franchoek/Paarl Winelands via R43/N2/R43: Drive over the Franchoek pass and continue to Villiersdorp. Continue along the R43 though undulating wheatlands until you reach the N2. Here you may turn right and proceed along the N2 and then take the R43 off ramp to the left to Hermanus. Travel time: +-90 minutes
OR
- Directions to Eastbury Cottage and Hermanus via Caledon: At reaching the N2, you may turn left and continue to Caledon (this route is not recommended for rental vehicles or in the rain as the tarring of the road has yet to be completed). Turn right into Caledon and then follow the R320 sign boards to the right to Hermanus via the Hemel en Aarde Valley. You will drive through beautiful farm lands and vineyards until you reach the R43 at the Sandbaai intersection. Turn left onto the R43 and proceed to the central business area of Hermanus. Travel time: +- 90 minutes.
Directions to Eastbury Cottage: Proceed down the Main Road of Hermanus and continue through the village CBD, turning sharp left at the traffic lights in the centre of the town. Continue along the Main Road until you reach the traffic circle after the Marine Hotel and drive through the circle. Proceed and take the next street, Stemmet St to the left.
