The Mayflower – Lodging in Hermanus

Welcome to our lodging in Hermanus at The Mayflower!  Retired Master Mariner Graham Fenn and his wife, artist Jenny Bowes Meyer (owner of Eastbury Cottage), opened their two “upper deck cabins”, The Port Side and Starboard Side, at their new home in 2016.  Originally the Maple Leaf Bakery, jJenny and Graham named their accommodation after the Mayflower ship and a legendary fishing vessel in Hermanus.  The Mayflower is situated at 18 Flower Street, one of the quaint historic streets in the heart of Hermanus and close to all tourist amenities.  Walk 200m to the spectacular seafront cliff paths where Southern Right Whales can be viewed in Winter.  Visit Ficks Pool tidal pool and restaurant just 300m away and stroll 700m to village shops and other seafront restaurants. 

The Cabins are ideal for Dad and Mum in the one unit and teenage children in the other.

• Each cabin sleeps 2 with a sunny north facing balcony with lovely views overlooking the mountain range and village.
•  Private entrance - Easy accessible flight of stairs to the first floor.
• KIng bed in each cabin - twin beds on request at time of reservation or at least 2 days prior to arrival.
• Sleeper couch to share for 1 or 2 children from 8 to 12 years (Teenagers can be accommodated in adjoining cabin at cabin rate)  Regret no babies or children under 8 unless both cabins are booked by families travelling together- use of pool at own risk as it will not be covered in the Summer months.
• Light self-catering with kettle, toaster, microwave, induction plate, glass mini oven, bar fridge and weber for barbeque.
• Free Fibre Wifi
• Fans for the Summer and electic blankets and heaters for the winter.
• Towels and linen provided - beach towels on request
• Started tea/coffee packs and complimentary guest toiletries
• Electricity backup.
• Secure off street parking

WINTER RATES FROM R750pn (single or 2 adults) per unit.  

SUMMER and PEAK RATES FROM R900 to R1400pn (single or 2 adults) per unit. 

Additional child/guest rates per unit: R150 to R300per person.

Rates are dependent on the Season and length of stay on a self-catering basis.

Usually a minimum of 2 nights over a weekend is required unless the Friday night has been previously booked… and 3 to 4 nights over a long weekend respectively.

Historically, the home of The Maple Leaf Bakery many years ago and run by the Mason Family, The Mayflower now stands recently renovated and proud in this quaint street, lined with fisherman’s cottages. Older locals will relate their stories of how they would wait in line at the bakery to buy their fresh bread each day while discussing their catch of the day!
